Things to See and Do

The guide above is a good place to start your orientation to Fairhope. Most guests really enjoy a day of visiting the shops downtown and choosing a place for lunch or dinner. You also should not miss a trip to the town pier on Mobile Bay and a long walk on the bluff overlooking the bay. While downtown, do not miss our tiny French Quarter. It is home to Panini Pete’s a sandwich restaurant that was featured on the TV show Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins.

The Grand Hotel is a huge beautiful waterfront property south of town that is a great place to stroll along the water. A drink at sunset is also a treat here. Check it out at the link below.

If you want to rent a bike, kayak or boat try Eastern Shore Watersports at the link below. We have not used this company and cannot vouch for them.

A more scenic place to boat or kayak is the Tensaw Delta. You will see wildlife. The delta is home to a large alligator and osprey population.

No visit to the area would be complete without a journey to the beaches on the gulf. There are scenic walking and cycling trails there that we thoroughly enjoy, Check them out at the link below. Our favorite is the Cotton Bayou Trail. Bike rentals are available.

Beaches extend for miles. Driving along them is fun. Find a place with the amenities you prefer and stroll the powdered sugar sand and take a swim in the warm gulf waters.

Between Fairhope and the beaches, you will find Magnolia Springs. The charm of this little village is hard to overstate. Jesse’s restaurant is one of the best within driving distance of Fairhope and the boardwalk behind Jesse’s will take you down to the Magnolia River which we think is one of the prettiest anywhere. The homes on the river have mail delivered by boat.
