Warning: If you are a foodie like us, shopping here is a bit of a challenge. We are willing to drive great distances and visit several places to get the goodies we seek. Below we share all of our shopping secrets.
Plain old grocery stores:
Piggly Wiggly AKA “The Pig” is the closest. It has a respectable wine and beer section and it is close to the state-owned liquor store, so all the basics can be covered. Link below:
Wynne Dixie is also close by and it shares a parking lot with the liquor store.

Publix is a bit farther away but it often, but not always, has a bit higher quality than the other two. To use the link below you will need to click the link and then use the store locator. Our zip code is 36532. Our store is the shoppes at Fairhope Village.
Mosley’s Meats in Daphne has top quality meats, local shrimp and frequently they stock a sushi grade tuna loin. In their frozen section they have superb duck breasts.
For better bread, cheeses and baked goods and generally higher-end grocery store items, we go to Fresh Market. It is a bit more of a drive but we will drive quite a distance for good food.

For serious food shopping, we go to Pensacola. A day trip to Pensacola for groceries and sightseeing and maybe a restaurant meal or two is something we look forward to on a regular basis. The links below will take you to our favorites. Jo-Patti’s is worth the trip alone to see a fresh seafood counter that stretches the length of a football field. Shoreline is a great place for excellent olive oil at a reasonable price and Bien Dong is our go-to Asian grocery where we also eat Pho and Bahn Mi. Palafox Street is a special place and the Urban Swinery is one of the best new restaurants in town.

The beaches in the Pensacola area are special. Florida liquor prices are cheaper and Pensacola is also the home of the Naval Aviation Museum. The museum could easily occupy a day on its own.
